Shared PA Governance and Certification Standard
The common definitions and safeguards used throughout the formation templates. Adopt a dated copy so every organization knows which standard governs it.
S-01 · Purpose and interpretation
Model clause: [Organization] uses Professional Acumen (PA) to develop its capacity to identify needs, reason about alternatives, work with others, implement useful decisions, and examine consequences. PA is an analytical and developmental tool. It does not establish an infallible moral doctrine, confer public authority, or replace professional qualifications.
This standard is version 0.1, dated October 8, 2026. The adopting resolution shall record [standard version], [institution], [jurisdiction], [effective date], [responsible governing body], and [document register location]. The final adopted text shall be attached to the governing documents; a changing website is not an automatic amendment.
Editorial clarification — October 7, 2026
This explanation accompanies the version 0.1 model clauses below. It does not amend an adopted document or change its declared version. An institution must approve and register a controlled revision before changing its governing text.
Intrinsic dimensions: every state in every interconnected human-interaction loop contains Critical Reasoning, Emotional Acumen, Social Acumen, and Physical Health. They influence one another throughout state, perception, interpretation, intention, action, interaction, consequence, feedback, and changed state. They are not optional checklist phases or independently validated numeric axes. PA supports analysis and development; normative ethical premises enter separately and consequential knowledge remains incomplete.
Current project vocabulary: Respect is earned and conveyed toward another person through assessment of contribution and trustworthiness; it is not expressed toward oneself. Self-Respect is outwardly expressed confidence and vulnerability that helps others respond and fill gaps. Self-Esteem is an accumulated multidimensional scalar developing through interaction and conveyed appreciation and disdain. Trust is an engineering approximation of magnitude associated with attributed Respect and the Self-Esteem developed through that attribution. Its constituent dimensions are themselves complex scalars and may not be usefully vectorized. State context, evidence, observer, and uncertainty; these terms do not measure human worth or establish an empirical consensus.
Rotation and purpose: Mentor → Scribe → Referee → Mentor, then repeat. The Mentor becomes Scribe to fill gaps not articulated well verbally. The Scribe becomes Referee with a more developed understanding of the problem environment. The Referee becomes Mentor to approach the next explanation from a broader perspective. Every learner practices every role. Nonverbal cues remain incomplete evidence, clarification and accessible communication remain available, and intended teacher-time benefits require observation.
Read the current Foundations definitions and practiced rotation alongside the historical sources.
S-02 · Four dimensions in every decision
Model clause: Each material proposal and review shall consider Critical Reasoning, Emotional Acumen, Social Acumen, and Physical Health together. The record shall identify evidence, assumptions, affected people, uncertainties, foreseeable consequences, resource needs, and conditions that would change the decision. Physical Health includes practical safety, accessibility, fatigue, and sustainable working conditions; participants shall not be required to disclose diagnoses or undergo medical scoring.
Understanding is incomplete and improves through examined experience. Scores, when used, shall have a stated rubric and limits. They shall not determine a person’s intrinsic worth, substitute for verified evidence, or establish misconduct by themselves.
S-03 · Practiced learning and shared Respect
Model clause: Learning teams of three shall rotate each participant through Mentor, Scribe, and Referee, then repeat. The Mentor helps examine the task, the Scribe records reasoning and results, and the Referee checks the agreed process, evidence, and consequences. Roles shall rotate and shall not create permanent status or substitute for statutory directors, officers, or independent reviewers.
Respect is conveyed to others and earned through useful contribution and trustworthiness. Trust is approximate and context dependent. Neither popularity, personal loyalty, wealth, nor a vote count shall serve as proof of competence. Constructive disagreement and the disclosure of uncertainty shall remain welcome.
S-04 · Corruption identification and conversion
Model clause: Corruption review shall examine harm to the integrity of a beneficial institutional purpose, including concealed conflicts, diverted resources, manipulated selection or voting, suppressed scrutiny, and rewards disconnected from useful contribution. Distinguish harmful diversion from changes that dismantle stagnant or harmful practices. Dissent, an unsuccessful experiment, or a mistaken prediction is not, by itself, corruption.
Identification means a documented concern requiring examination, not a presumption of guilt. Conversion means restoring purpose and turning a verified problem or newly exposed need into accountable, productive development. It does not mean conversion of a nonprofit into a for-profit, compelled belief, immunity from law, or automatic transfer of assets or authority.
Apply the sequence: preserve evidence → appoint an unconflicted reviewer → provide notice and an opportunity to respond → record findings and uncertainties → approve a proportionate correction and development plan → examine results → offer independent appeal. Urgent temporary protections shall be limited, documented, and promptly reviewed. Required reporting and lawful remedies remain available.
S-05 · Records and independent scrutiny
Model clause: Publish proposals, relevant nonconfidential evidence, eligible decision makers, vote totals, implementation owners, and correction history. The preferred member-governance model uses named voting records and optional explanations of up to 500 characters, with an independent third party counting and verifying email ballots where lawful. Choose a legally permitted voting method before adoption. Secret-ballot requirements, valid privacy protections, and statutory inspection rights take precedence.
Publish governance decisions without exposing patient, student, personnel, whistleblower, or other protected information. Separate public summaries from restricted evidence. The operations manual shall specify access, retention, redaction, and correction procedures. No voting or third-party verification service is activated merely by adopting this template.
S-06 · Certification boundaries
Model clause: Every PA certification shall specify [issuer], [standard and version], [scope], [evidence requirements], [reviewer qualifications], [decision procedure], [term], [renewal], [appeal], and [public status register]. Fees shall buy defined services, never a favorable outcome. Trainers and commercial licensees shall not approve their own work without independent assessment. Publish the distinction between training attendance, demonstrated individual competence, and institutional process certification.
Assess observable performance across all four dimensions using disclosed criteria, work samples, and more than one relevant setting. Record uncertainty and limits. Certificates shall state that they are private program credentials and shall not imply accreditation, licensure, government approval, or a guarantee that corruption is absent. This is a proposed certification framework; Guidepost does not establish an operating certification authority through these pages.
S-07 · Controlled improvement
Model clause: Changes require a stated reason, a comparison of old and new provisions, affected agreements, legal review where needed, and approval by the body authorized in the Articles and Bylaws or business governing agreement. Preserve prior versions and effective dates. Neither the manual nor a license may silently expand powers, remove review rights, divert charitable assets, or override the founding purpose.
