Intents

Start with a familiar situation. A volunteer wants to recruit more members, while a nonprofit board wants to protect its existing programs. The intentions conflict only if everyone assumes there is one fixed pot of resources.

Notice the relationship

Name differing intentions → examine evidence, risk and resource limits → explore licensing, partnerships or new income → test a small activity → review effects → revise aims.

Conveying respect for another intent can preserve trust while people disagree. Arrogance, disdain or overconfidence may cause one group to dismiss alternatives. New opportunities emerge when capabilities and resources are considered together.

Ask yourself: What resource could be developed rather than merely reassigned?

Intents describe outcomes participants seek and reasons they allocate attention, capabilities and resources toward them. The Fractal Seed provides a common language for comparing evolving intentions without requiring all individuals and organizations to adopt identical immediate goals.

Overarching goal and local intentions

The shared overarching goal is to promote the continuous evolving of the greatest sustainable diversity of all life and cultures; not just humans. A school, clinic, business, family or conservation group may express different immediate intentions. Their differences can reveal complementary contributions, resource constraints and conflicts requiring explicit tradeoffs.

Recursive flow

Express intent → identify current multidimensional state → examine available evidence and resource constraints → choose a reversible or bounded action → observe intended and unintended consequences → revise intent, means or environmental conditions. Intended benefit is not identical to observed outcome.

Four-dimensional modifier interactions

Critical Reasoning: knowledge, priorities, uncertainty, evidence and planning. Emotional Acumen: motivation, confidence, vulnerability and reactions to setbacks. Social Acumen: conveyed respect, competing needs, power, cooperation and boundaries. Physical Health: safety, fatigue, capability and sustainable participation. Each influences how intent is communicated and pursued.

Compensation and future resources

When a person cannot directly perform a necessary task, consider learning, delegation, partnerships, assistive technologies, task redesign or development of previously inaccessible resources. A qualified technical expert who cannot climb an antenna tower might train a field technician or propose a ground-accessible alternative.

Risk, drift and uncertainty

Intents can change with evidence, culture, experience and environmental conditions. Drift may improve development or waste resources. The shared goal is a directional value commitment, not a mathematical proof that an action optimizes all life or eliminates conflict.
